  Sail Training Ireland for Youth Development are thrilled announce that we are now taking applications for on our “Sea Change for All” voyages taking place in late September and early October this year.These voyages places are exclusively for young people aged between 18 – 30 who have a disability of some kind and their buddies (carers) if required.  Unfortunately due to the limitations of The Pelican of London, we are unable to take wheelchair users on this occasion.This opportunity sees the participants become part of the working crew as trainees on the Tall Ship Pelican of London on a weeklong voyage at sea. Potential participants should be aware that this will be a challenging but fun adventure. The itinerary of the trips are weather dependent but will include a visit to the UK or Isle of Man.Sail Training Ireland are able to make this opportunity available as a result of us being one of the awardees of the Disability Participation and Awareness Fund 3.0! A big thank you to Rethink Ireland and the Department of Children, Disability and Equality.Inclusion and providing the sail training opportunity to young people of all abilities has always been a key pillar of what we do in Sail Training Ireland. We always aim to have at least 10% of places available for those with a disability. This figure was 30% and 19% in the last two years. We have done this without any specific funding for our disability work. Important Documentation

You must be aged between 18 &amp; 30 inclusive to participate in this voyage. A valid passport (still in date at end of voyage) is required for ALL of our voyages. This voyage will visit at least one UK Port. If you do not hold an Irish or UK passport you will require a UK ETA or visa. It is your responsibility to obtain this documentation prior to the voyage. You must bring the passport (and proof of ETA or Visa if required) with you or else you will be denied boarding. Please ensure that the first and buyer's email address you list in the application is the correct address and is input correctly, as this is where all correspondence will be sent. No deposit is required when applying, but in order to secure your place, a deposit of €50 will be required when your application is approved, .

Erasmus+ Youth Exchange  14-17yrs

We had a magic 5 days at sea on Blue Clipper.  Amazing ship, great crew and the absolute best group of Trainees.  Sailed from Warrenpoint to Lamlash Bay (Isle of Arran) on to Bute where we turned around and headed to Troon before a final leg to Belfast...  what a trip!

Erasmus+ Youth Exchange  18-30yrs

Absolutely unreal crew, really enjoyable and informative trip where I got to learn true sailing on a stunning ship!

What an experience both my daughters had on the voyage.

They learned so much from working as part of a team when they were on watch knowing they would be letting their friends down if they didn’t get out of bed for night shift.

New skills such as using charts, mapping courses updating the ships log, what dangers to look out for on watch, sheering the ship, learning lots of different knots, to hosting sails, anchoring. From cleaning and food prep.  Not forgetting there course work.

Also made time for fun by climbing the mast, jumping off bow sprit, to swimming, paddle boarding while exploring places they haven’t seen.  From watching the beautiful sunset to the dolphins visiting.

They said it was one of the best experiences they have done and would love to do it again.

They even said they would love to work on a tall ship.

Favourite part they don’t have one everything was their favourite.

This experience could not have happened without Sail Training Ireland in particular Sindy and the captain and crew of the Blue clipper.

Would highly recommend.

Foroige Leadership for Life Voyage

We had a great adventure on the Blue Clipper. The crew was amazing with our group of teens, they were helpful, full of information and always there for a good laugh. I'd like to thank Erasmus+ and Sail Training Ireland for their help and for making this journey so amazing.

Absolutely amazing few days the crew on board were amazing and thoroughly enjoyed would highly recommend for anyone to try it at least once as the experience from it is unbelievable let alone the memories 

I had a fantastic time. I met new people, and learned new skills. It was my first time doing anything like this but won’t be my last. I was nervous beforehand but now I know there was no need. I would highly recommend it. 

Cork Sail Training Bursary Voyage 18-30 yrs

Fabulous opportunity, organised by true professionals and we would highly recommend this experience to all! 

I writing to express a sincere thank you.  My sons had an absolutely fantastic time.  They didn’t want it to end and would happily have stayed on board sailing for another while!  They really learned alot, it was a truely immersive experience.  They loved being hands on with all aspects of the voyage from the navigation to the galley duty.
 
The Maybe Sailing crew, are a credit and really created a positive and inclusive vibe, well done. 

My lads want to sign up for next year already.

Anna had an amazing time she bonded well with everyone and enjoyed all aspects of sailing even the night watch she says that standing on the boat at 2am drinking coffee was great - she knows we wouldn’t give her coffee that late. She was very happy with the food and staff were brilliant she loved the navigation and surprised herself because she understood it.  Would recommend this crew anytime a brilliant experience for anyone.

This was my first ever voyage. And im still sad I had to leave it was the most unforgettable, memorable, enjoyable thing in my entire life. We Went From Belfast - Isle of Man - Wales - Dún Laoghaire. And It was Incredible I learned so so so many new things like how to coil a rope, make eights and even do a log. The Crew on this boat (Blue Clipper) make my voyage memorable because of how Kind, Supportive, Great and Loving they were they were a massive part of my voyage so I wanna thank Archie, Sam, Josie, Matthew, Joe, Tania and Captain Grace. Because all of you guys were Incredibly Amazing and I love all of you guys to bits. I first stepped foot on the boat not knowing nothing and came off knowing a few things. And Came off Sad I had to leave I didn’t want it to end, Because that voyage was the best thing that ever happened to me. So id say to ANYONE if you ever get a voyage opportunity please take it you’ll never forget it.

Thank you Sail Training Ireland team. I was so excited before the trip but it surpassed every expectation I had. From the amazing group to the wonderful captain and team. I was particularly impressed with the crews attention to food, there was no fast food of any kind and we even made fresh pizza dough and bread frequently as well as knots, sails, log books etc. Learned so so much and honestly just can't wait for my next sail trip, ye have me hooked now 😂🙏❤️🫶 big big thanks to the whole team involved, I had a ball and made some amazing new connections, highly recommend ❤️🫶🛞⚓🙏

Asgard Armada Voyage  14-17 year-olds (TS Maybe)

My son had a great time. Really took him out of his comfort zone. He even enjoyed mackerel for the first time.  Thanks for a great trip. 

Last week our son travelled from Arklow to Wales on the Tail Ship ‘Maybe’ and it was one AMAZING 🤩 experience ( my sons exact words), one that if he got a chance to go again, he would most definitely go back onboard.

From a parental point of view this trip was more that just 12 young people sailing the seven seas.. it bought such community spirit along with it which will hopefully be available to lots more young people from Arklow and the surrounding area going forward. 

Thank you to all the team behind this project.. you gave our Son and experience of a lifetime and we can’t thank you enough.🙏😊🥰

Celtic Tide Voyage 14-17yr olds on TS Maybe

Had the trip of a life time . Amazing trainees the Ilen crew were outstanding.
Leonie Adoh and Sean . The crew were so considerate to the sea sick people.
They made learning fun . Had us spoiled we felt like a family for the week.
Made my dream come through of racing another tall ship from IOM to Wales.
Sean made amazing Risotto and Leonie made us engery balls exactly what we needed.
It was very noticable that the crew were very usto working with young teenagers.
The morning coffee was a winner .
I hope to have the chance to sail again on Ilen .



Asgard Armada Voyage 14-17 year-olds (Ilen)

My daughter went on this trip-  8 teenagers , a mentor and 3 crew. It was incredible voyage- visiting Isle of Man and Wales and joining another training ship along the way. 
The adults were very helpful and kind and made sure it was lots of fun. Great friendships made during the voyage. A trip she will always remember.

The difference in experience that my daughter had because of an incredible crew was just amazing.
The skipper and his crew were kind, inclusive and fun. This was a totally different experience thanks to them.
Especially when the skipper stayed up through the night when they were very seasick. I appreciate that very much 

My son had the best experience of his life on board. The journey, work, food, islands and company were all fantastic. He actually thanked me for making him go.

This was a terrific experience. The crew supported and encouraged the trainee crew through immersive hands-on experience to gain the most from this trip.  

NEIC/Irish Sea Explorer O18s (M)

As a single traveler there are no words to explain  the feeling of accomplishment.  A week later if I did not have the pictures as proof I would have believed it to have been a dream.  Chose to do this trip as I had made my kids do it.  The respect and admiration I have towards my fellow pirates will be long lasting.  Even though I was sea sick and begged to be left home.  Once the illness meds kicked it.  I never looked back.  I will return and hope it will be the start of new travel friend and new adventures.  

SAILID Adult Voyage (Over 18s) - SOLD OUT!

Great opportunity to share a Tall Ship voyage with amazing people. This was a fabulous opportunity to support people with mixed abilities in experiencing a Tall Ship voyage and gain from this experience something that others may take for granted. 
Thanks to founders for making this possible. 

An adventure everyone should experience, yes, there are comfy beds and good food but it's much more than that, it's an experience, a challenge and it'll change you for the better.

It was a wonderful week on Pelican. Those of us who had sailed previously with the Jubilee Sailing Trust thought it was reminiscent of those wonderful voyages and the lads from Remember Us added so much to the warmth of our crew. We all left with so many great memories and said we would all go again if the voyage was repeated next year. It was also reasonably priced when the price that is being charged on other ships is considered and made it available to everyone. Thanks to all involved for a fantastic week.

First time on Pelican and loved it. There were lots of first time sailors onboard but the friendly crew were excellent teachers and the trainees gained confidence quickly. Don’t be afraid to give it a go- you won’t regret it!

This was an amazing trip, had never done anything like this before, but given the opportunity I'll do it again.
It was exciting, educational and enjoyable. The professional crew and fellow volunteer crew members were great company and great craic(special shout out to Mizen watch). During our visit to Douglas IOM we had the added bonus of a grand stand view of the performance of the Red arrows team.

Thoroughly enjoyed the voyage. The crew and other voyage members were amazing. Great moral amount everyone. I would highly recommend doing the voyage to others. 

Sail Training Ireland was honestly such a fun experience — I’ve done it before and it never gets old. The people are always amazing, super friendly, and you learn so much without it feeling like school. It's a great way to try sailing, even if you’ve never done it before. Would totally recommend it to anyone who wants to try something different and meet new people.

Galway Sail Training Bursary Voyage 14-17 year-olds

I had a great time on the Ilen, as we had lots of fun and took part in a lot of cool and interesting activities, such as sailing, climbing, hiking and sightseeing on Inis Mór.
We stayed in the Galway marina for the first night due to high wind speed, so we practised a lot of routines and procedures such as dropping the anchor, rigging sails, coiling halliards, climbing the mast and going out on the bowsprits.
We took off to Inis Mor on Sunday and stayed the night. We woke up the next morning for a tour of the entire island; we went to Dun Aonghus, had a tour of an RNLI boat and played board games for a lot of the evening.
On Tuesday we had a successful voyage to Great Man's bay and stayed anchored for the night.
We arrived in to Galway on Wednesday afternoon and stayed on board until docking, cleaning and packing up was done.
Overall I had a great time on the Ilen. The crew were really kind and helpful with learning. Food was great too. I would recommend this experience to any young person who has the chance to sail the Ilen! 


We had a great time on the Maybe, skipper, mate and deckhands made us feel safe and well looked after. There was a friendly atmosphere on the ship, plenty of food, some musical performances and lots of opportunity to try out sailing. Towards the end of the trip all the different sails made sense, and we even sometimes went to the right ropes without being shown. Steering and the log book were further opportunities for learning. The weather was mixed but it didn't deter us, once your waterproofs are waterproof it doesn't really matter. It was a pity the wind direction didn't allow us to go further afield, I would like to book a longer trip next time! 

Adult Sail Two

Had a great time, it was a really authentic tall ship experience. crew and trainees were all really enthusiastic and it was a really happy ship. Food was excellent and weather was beautiful 

Ocean Science 1  Voyage TY/Gaisce

Due to weather conditions and engine failure we didn’t manage to sail very far and stayed anchored in Carlingford for 4 of the 6 nights.  Disappointing for the trainees with some saying they were bored and not enjoying the trip.  Unpredictable outcome and unfortunate for the trainees and it limited the benefits of sail training for them.

Despite the weather and the engine problem we had a great voyage and I found the ocean science very interesting. Tall ships have to be experienced to appreciate how they operate and as always with sailing expect the unexpected.  
The professional crew and volunteers were very professional and helpful and the trainees although a very mixed group enjoyable to work with.  Hopefully they have had an experience that will enrich their character going forward. 

Brilliant fun.  Recommended.  I didn't go with any friends but had such a good trip.  We sent to Scotland.

2025 Young Explorer/Gaisce Easter Voyages for  14 - 17 year olds

A superb experience and the sunshine made it even more memorable. The ship was beautiful and all the outings were very enjoyable. The trip was over shadowed by the unnecessary language and attitude of the skipper towards the children. A consistent, harsh attitude and calling one girl stupid on several occasions and telling another young boy that he needed to loose a few pounds was thoroughly unacceptable. I hope he will change his ways.
Thank you to the other crew for all they’re work.

Really enjoyed the experience. Met a great bunch of people. Lovely crew. Good food. Great craic. Hope to go on a longer one in the future. Absolutely recommend it. 

Parent perspective.
I think allowing phones 24 hours is a bad idea, it allows for bullying and exclusion of individuals.
There was one fruit bowl on the table which had gone off fruit when they arrived and was unchanged (allegedly)
The neurolinguistics of the skipper made it more than apparent that he had no interest in teaching and suggesting to a kid who is overweight that he will burn more calories is again something I’d have heard in the 1980’s.
850 is a lot of money.
